Charcoal is a byproduct of burnt plant cell walls and of vegetable fibers. It doesn’t grow; it’s made by harvesting wood, coconut, or bamboo. Burn one of these at high temperatures in a low-oxygen environment and you get the kind of charcoal that’s bagged and sold for grilling. However, when you add a steaming process, you get activated charcoal, which can suck up dirt and grime in a very effective matter.

Activated Charcoal has an open and porous structure. Because of this it essentially sticks itself to bacteria, pollutants, toxins, excess oil, and most other impurities one can think of. Due to this property, it makes it one of the most purifying washes one can find on the market today!
